The splendid walks we have planned for you will show this spectacular region and reveal its most intimate secrets within silence and beauty that only trekking can conquer. Unforgettable hikes are organized through deep canyons, into oases, pre-Colombian archaeological ruins, over sand dunes, along rivers, over volcanic rocks, and through most beautiful landscapes of this region.

 

 
DAY 1                    CALAMA - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA
Arrival and reception in Calama Airport and transfer on shared basis (SIB) from airport to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. Archaeological capital of Chile with sites dating back 3,000 years ago. Its surrounding landscapes are nothing less than surreal. Begin by visiting Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), arriving at dusk, just in time for a spectacular sunset view from a gigantic hill top Dune. Return to your hotel in San Pedro. Overnight in Terra Luna Atacama or similar category. (D)
 
DAY 2                    SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - RIO SALADO
Breakfast in the hotel. Morning at leisure to explore on own account San Pedro village. After a relaxing morning, we visit Pukara de Quitor. The ruins which are a pre-Hispanic fortification, strategically located at the narrow spot of the river valley, allowed military and commercial control of the oasis. Afterwards, follow the river until Catarpe where you start your trekking through a long canyon. Might use the riverbed as your trail so it is best to bring sandals. Overnight in Camp Site. DAY 3                    RIO SALADO - RIO GRANDE      
Breakfast in campsite. This morning you will cover a 6 to 8hours hike to the native Rio Grande Village to discover its canyons and life style of the inhabitants. Overnight in Camp Site. (B, L, D)
 
DAY 4                    RIO GRANDE - MACHUCA
Breakfast in campsite. Today you begin a trek of 6hours up to a height of 4,000m towards Altiplánico high plateau where your steps will be welcomed by herds of lamas and alpacas while you reach Machuca village. Overnight in Camp Site. (B, L, D)
   
DAY 5                    MACHUCA - PURITAMA - EL TATIO GEYSERS
Breakfast in campsite. Today you travel to another valley: the Purifica River Valley. You follow an ancient trail along the canyon on the fringe and then descending into the valley. The shore of the stream is covered with ornamental grasses, where at times the path is hidden. You can already feel the water of Purifica River is not a cold mountain stream. Today you will have transfer and a brief trekking to Puritama Hot Springs (3400m), where you can enjoy a relaxing swim before continuing to the El Tatio Geysers. Afterwards a short hike at sunset. Overnight in Camp Site. (B, L, D)
           
DAY 6                    EL TATIO GEYSERS - CALAMA - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA 
Breakfast in campsite. Start today’s excursion to El Tatio Geysers at 4321 above sea level. This steam of the warm water pools and the colorful minerals offer a visual delight when the sun eventually rises behind the mountain range. Enjoy breakfast on the spot before continuing down to the indigenous villages Caspana, Lasaña and Chiu Chiu. Afterwards, arrival in San Pedro de Atacama down. Overnight in Terra Luna Atacama or similar category. (B, L)
 
DAY 7                    SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - MISCANTI - CAPUR CAMP
Breakfast in the hotel. Drive to the heart of the cordillera crossing the Altiplánico and encounter Miscanti and Miñiques Lagoons, which is 4200mabove sea level. On the spot, may have possible to do a small trek in the nearby area, according to guide instructions. We continue your trip and set camp in Capur Salt Lake. (B, L, D)

DAY 8                    CAPUR - SOCAIRE - ATACAMA SALT LAKE - TALABRE 
Breakfast in campsite. Morning drive towards Socaire, a small village located southeast to San Pedro de Atacama. Ancient agricultural terraces is part of the landscape in Sociare. Atacama Salt Lake, the largest salt flat with over 3,000 square kilometers of pure salt where the dry air is so clear that it is possible to see over 70 km away. Continue to Chaxa Lagoon, an extraordinary pool of water in the middle of a salt desert and home of countless wild flamingos and other birds. Afterwards, drive up to set camp in Talabre or refuge category. (B, L, D)
   
DAY 9                    TALABRE - TUMBRE - LEJIA LAGOON
Breakfast in campsite. Today begin with a half-day hike to the Altiplánico from Talabre to Tumbre. Then continue to Laguna Lejia where you set camp. Overnight in Camp Site. (B, L, D)
 
DAY 10                  LEJIA LAGOON - LASCAR - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA
Breakfast in campsite. Morning transfer to the base of Lascar Volcano. Depending on the volcanic activity this morning, you can enjoy a full day hike to the summit of Lascar with approx. 5560m above sea level. In case due to security reasons you cannot reach the summit, ascension to a nearby mountain will be suggested. Return to your vehicle and transfer back to San Pedro de Atacama. Overnight in Terra Luna Atacama or similar category. (B, L)
 
DAY 11                  SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - CALAMA
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer from the hotel to Calama Airport. Flight to next destination (not included in pricing).
